Culinary Arts….literally.

MondrianCakeFound this gem in my old pictures from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art from a visit last summer, and had to share.  It is a slice of red velvet cake made in the likeness of Piet Mondrian’s famous abstract compositions.

In the Spring of 2010, the SF MOMA partnered with Bay Area pastry chef Caitlin Williams Freeman to create this edible artwork and others, including Andy Warhol Pop Art Corn, Jeff Koons White Hot Chocolate, Diebenkorn Truffle, Frida Kahlo Mexican Wedding Cookies, and a few others.
